How to install your new C2 OBD2 VR6 Chip

Tools Needed:
10mm socket
T15 torx screwdriver or bit
Flat head screwdriver
Philips head screwdriver

The ECU is located in the middle of the rain tray towards the passenger side.

Step one...MAKE SURE THE KEY IS OUT OF IGNITION and disconnect the battery.

Next, remove the passenger side half of the rain tray. You want to use a flat head screwdriver and the philips head at the same time to remove the plastic screw.

Sometimes you may need to use a pair of piers to remove the screws. Here are the part numbers incase you damage the screws or the rain tray when removing it.

1H0 819 055 C 01C - Clip to receive screw
1H0 819 055 B 01C - Screw
1H1 819 416 B B41 - Passenger side rain tray
1H1 819 415 B B41 - Driver side rain tray

Once you get the rain tray out remove these two 10mm bolts.

After you remove the two bolts, slide the bracket towards the passenger side then out.

Next, push/pull the harness connector up.

Open position

Pull harness off ecu

Remove 4 philips head screws that attach the bracket to the ECU

After moving the bracket remove the four t15 thorax screws.

After removing the four torx screws, split the ECU case open. If the case has never been open before it may be difficult to open. A couple of taps with a screw driver around the edges usually helps.

Carefully use a pick or a thumbtack to remove the old chip

New C2 chip

Carefully install the new chip, making sure all the pins are lined up before you push it in.
The chip can ONLY go in one way. Make sure to line up the corner with the angle on it.

Replace ECU in reverse order of removal

Reconnect the ECU the connect the battery. Make sure the car starts before putting the rain tray back on. When reconnecting the battery MAKE SURE THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION. After connecting the battery put the key in the on position (position before start) and let the throttle body adapt. You will hear the throttle body whine. Once the whining stops you can start the car.

Adapt your throttle body ONCE. Everytime a TBA procedure is run this process goes back to the beginning and the 'home' position must be re-learned.

The best/quickest way to get the idle adapted is to allow car to idle until fully warm on the 1st cold start, and allow as much time idling as possible when at stop lights ect... do not 'help' ecu by taping gas pedal, as this stops the learning process.

Trouble Shooting

I installed my chip and my CEL is still on.
If you had a CEL before as a direct result from a rear o2 or SAI code and you did not clear the codes before you installed the C2 chip, then yes you will still have a CEL until you clear them. Codes are stored in the ECU not the chip.

I installed my chip and my car does not start.
If this happens make sure the chip is secure in the ECU chip socket, and all the pins are lined up properly. If the car still does not start. Put your old chip back in and see if it starts. If it starts with the old chip please contact us for further assistance. If it does not start with the old chip then this is due to an installation error or a bad ECU. The C2 chip is passive, and there is no possible way that the chip can harm your ECU.
